DREAM BUILD PLAY 2008
Thank you for registering
Using XNA Game Studio 2.0, design and build a game for Xbox 360™ that redefines video games as we know them. Amaze us with your graphics. Blow us away with your action sequences. Show us something we've never seen before!

Work alone or as a team of up to 10 people. NOTE: The guidelines below are provided for your convenience and are subject to the full Official Rules. Before you start creating a game, see the Official Rules for complete eligibility, entry and participation details.

1. Register now
Register your team for the Dream-Build-Play Challenge*. Take this step even if you haven't started building your game yet.

2. Get the tools
  • You must use XNA Game Studio 2.0 to build your game . It's a free download, and has everything you need to bring your game to life. Games built using Game Studio Express aren't eligible for this challenge.
  • If you like, use Torque X tools and technology. These helpful tools are optional.
  • A membership to the Creators Club is required to build games for Xbox. To make it easy to compete in the 2008 Dream-Build-Play Challenge, we're giving you a FREE, limited-time membership to the Creators Club. Get your free membership.
  • As you build, find support in the XNA Creators Club forums

3. Build your game
Using XNA Game Studio 2.0, develop your video game in English for Xbox 360™. The more innovative, fun and technically polished your game is, the higher your score (see judging criteria below).

Be imaginative. Be original. And be sure to review the Official Rules for complete content/technical requirements and judging criteria. We prefer your entry to be originally developed. But if pre-existing source code is incorporated into your entry, your game design summary must clearly identify the code that comes from another source. One more thing: Your entry can't infringe on any third-party rights or violate any applicable law or regulation.

4. Submit your game
The entry deadline is June 23rd, 2008. To be eligible for prizes, you must submit your .ccgame package and all source code and content used to build your game in a single zip file (max size 200MB). Along with your entry form, make sure you submit:

a) Your finished game in .ccgame XNA Creators Club Game Package form.

b) The source code and content of your game. Clean out all built binary data from your game project folder (delete the bin and obj folders). Include all of the content to build your game.

c) A design summary. In 2,000 words or less, describe the techniques used to create your game, providing appropriate references. Remember that if pre-existing source code is incorporated into your entry, you must clearly identify such source code in your design summary. The summary must be in English and entered on this website.

d) Three screenshots of your finished game. Capture the game play and style of the game as accurately as possible, showing only finished artwork and graphical artifacts. JPEGs only; max size of each is 2MB. Upload your screenshots through this website.

e) A link to a video demo of your game on SoapBox. Post your game on Soapbox, then cut and paste the link into your Dream-Build-Play entry form.

If a game you submitted to the Warm-Up Challenge meets the requirements of this new challenge, that's great! You're welcome to resubmit it.

Before you submit your entry/entries, be sure to:

• Create a .ccgame package, and verify that it works before sending.
• Gather the code and art assets and include them in your .zip file.
• Compress your game. Includes your .ccgame package, clean source code and all art assets necessary to build the game.

Once you're done, kick back and relax while our judges review the entries. The Finalist teams will be announced at Gamefest 2008 in Seattle, July 22nd – 23rd.

Have more than one game to submit? Enter as many as you like, but remember: You can only win one prize per challenge.
